Free Humanity

I’m in love with food. If I could eat at a new place every day I would be more than a happy camper.

But once in a while works too. This time I settled on munching on Ethiopian food with one of my best friends. But if you spend enough time with me you’ll know my eyes are always roaming for steer art. As we were walking back to the car I found this…

From the front, a rusty newspaper stand. From the side, a surface for art. You see, any flat surface on the streets becoming a canvas.

This particular work is done by Free Humanity who puts his work up on various locations in Los Angeles. I ran into his work previously but hadn’t quite explored his other art. He’s best known for his image of a diamond in a lotus flower.

You can see a lot of his posters up that say ‘free humanity’ but he also does some more complex works like this one with Audrey Hepburn.

He was also recently picked up by Klerkx Art Agency which posted some cool videos of him in the studio and out on the streets. Just goes to show that when you work hard at making your name known in the streets, it can turn up some great opportunities in the art world.

But I like to think most of these artists to it for the love of the craft. Free Humanity’s pieces are calming yet moving, simple yet complex. Keep an eye out for more of his works, you might even spot him.

    • Haha the food was interesting! I was a little torn about it at first but overall it was a great experience just to eat it and it was definitely different from my normal. Maybe next time I’ll take pics ;)
